This will be Isabel’s second year as a level 10 athlete. Isabel’s eyes are set on College level gymnastics. She would like to attain a gymnastic scholarship in the future.
Isabel was born on September 3rd, 1994. She started gymnastics at the age seven at Capital Gymnastic in their recreational program. She moved to team after a year and a half, starting at level 5. She quickly moved through the compulsory levels and started competing level 7 in 2005.
Isabel was a very successful level 7 gymnast, winning vault, bars, beam and AA at the District Qualifier at National Elite. She also placed 1st on bars, 2nd on floor and AA at South State. Isabel went on to place 3rd at Level 7 State on bars and 9th in the AA. Isabel also did well as a level 8 gymnast, placing 2nd AA at Pike’s Peak Cup, 4th AA at Kurt Thomas Invitational (making it to the finals) and qualifying to Level 8 Regionals.
Isabel competed two years at level 9 due to an injury. At her first year at level 9 she qualified to Regionals and placed 13th on floor. Her second year at level 9 in 2009, Isabel became the Level 9 Regional, JR 7 AA and bars Champion. She also placed an impressive 2nd on beam and 3rd on floor. At the 2009 Level 9 Westerns, Isabel placed 7th on bars and 12th AA.
Isabel's first level 10 season was with plagued with a variety of injuries. Several months into competition, she pulled her neck and iliopsoas muscles. Isabel did compete in 3 meets prior to state. She competed at the Metroplex Challenge placing 5th on beam, at the Heart of Texas Invitational, she placed 2nd on vault, beam and floor and at Pike's Peak Invitational where she only completed two events, vault and floor. Her coaches pulled her out of the Tyler Rose City Invitational. She went into state ready to compete all four events. Unfortunately, two falls on beam cost her the AA score she needed to move on to regionals.
Isabel's goals are to train for the next season, up-grading her skills to all 10 start values, in hopes of making state, regionals and nationals in 2011.
